Today we welcomed AVID (Advancement Via Independent Determination).  We had an update from Anne Barnes, the coordinator of the program.  Anne told us the program started 8 years ago with a grant from the district.  The success has been amazing and the program has benefited from many community partner organizations.  Also the program is starting in 7th grade and goes through to 12th grade.  The mentoring and life skills the students gain is really amazing.  Anne showed an inspirational video about several of the students and the impact on their lives and the difference it has made.  We also heard form a great student speaker.
Thank you and all the great students for coming today – we applaud your great success and commitment to your education!
